Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Man with Van Chelsea in respect of its financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to operating ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all business dealings, and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard individuals from exploitation.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man with Van Chelsea provides local and regional moving and transport services, including residential removals, small office moves, and delivery support. Our activities rely on a combination of directly engaged workers, vehicles, fuel providers, equipment suppliers, and subcontracted transport partners. We recognise that risks of modern slavery can arise particularly within subcontracted labour, temporary staffing, and certain goods and services procured in support of our operations.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and all forms of exploitation. This stance applies to every aspect of our business, regardless of location or role, and extends to all individuals and organisations working with or on behalf of Man with Van Chelsea. Any confirmed breach of this policy will result in decisive action, which may include termination of contracts, removal from approved supplier status, and reporting to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
Policies and Governance
Our commitment to combating modern slavery is embedded in our internal policies, which emphasise fair treatment, lawful pay, and safe working conditions. Management is responsible for reviewing and implementing these policies and for ensuring appropriate awareness among workers and subcontractors. We expect anyone representing our business to uphold our standards and to act promptly if concerns arise.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management processes, we communicate our zero-tolerance requirements and seek confirmation that appropriate measures are in place within their own operations and supply chains. Where we consider the risk to be higher, we reserve the right to conduct targeted audits and checks, which may include requesting documentary evidence of right to work, verification of wage practices, and confirmation of working conditions. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we will review and, if necessary, end the relationship.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We periodically assess the potential risks of modern slavery within our business and supply chains, giving particular attention to labour-intensive activities, use of subcontractors, and procurement of goods or services from sectors or regions considered higher risk. Our due diligence approach is proportionate to the nature and scale of the relationship and is designed to identify, prevent, or mitigate any potential instances of exploitation.
Training and Awareness
We aim to ensure that those involved in managing people, suppliers, or subcontractors understand the signs of modern slavery and know how to respond to concerns. Internal guidance and briefings emphasise the importance of speaking up, respecting human rights, and escalating issues without delay. We will continue to refine our awareness activities to strengthen our overall approach.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Man with Van Chelsea encourages workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery, human trafficking, or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised directly with management or through our established reporting channels within the business. We will treat all reports sensitively, take them seriously, and investigate promptly. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that addressing modern slavery risks is an ongoing process and we are committed to continuous improvement. Each year, we review the effectiveness of our policies, risk assessments, supplier oversight, and training measures. This statement will be reviewed and updated annually to reflect any changes in our business, legal requirements, and best practice guidance, and to ensure our approach remains robust and effective.
Approval of this Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the leadership of Man with Van Chelsea, who are responsible for ensuring that all parts of the organisation comply with the commitments set out above.
